The lead paragraph of this article is a bit better than the last one (which is still available at the link below). Freer trade is good for developing countries. The problem is when developed countries force one-sided trade rules. We need to stop protecting our textiles and lower tariffs with Africa. Improving standards of living in Africa through trade isn't just an economic issue, it's a humanitarian issue. As for free-trade coming at the expense of the environment, developed nations are by and large much "greener" than developing nations. Wealth affords the luxury of protecting the environment. If we can allow those countries to advance, then we will also be helping the environment.
