Israel Approves Extending Barricade (washingtonpost.com)

The United States has criticized the fence complex, saying it will complicate efforts to create a viable Palestinian state and negotiate a cease-fire to end the Palestinians' three-year-old uprising against Israel's continuing occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. U.S. officials have threatened to reduce Israeli loan guarantees if the fence veers too far into the West Bank.

I sort of feel like people coming over the border to shoot or blow up people is complicating efforts to create a viable Palestinian state. I admit that a fence that is deliberately surrounds Israeli settlements, particularly ones built far into the West Bank, is provocative. Even more provocative and detrimental, however, is Israelis and Palestinians continuing to kill each other. The people protesting the fence are putting the cart before the horse. You can't even talk about borders until you work out a stable cease fire.

I am beginning to believe that Israel needs a Berlin wall. These people need to be separate, and maybe 50 or 100 years from now when neither have killed each other in a while we can talk about where the borders should have been.
