Pentagon says it attacked fighters -- not wedding:

'Coalition forces on the ground recovered numerous weapons, 2 million Iraqi and Syrian dinar, foreign passports and a satcom radio,' the statement said.

I'm sure those were just the wedding presents.

Brian -- This is very similar to what happened in Afghanistan. Remember the wedding party that we bombed because they fired guns into the air in celebration and one of our pilots thought he was under attack?

James -- That was my first thought, but in Afghanistan, the wedding party was shooting up into the air and aircraft mistook them for attackers. It's a differnt thing if troops on the ground were the ones who radioed in that they were under attack. Similarly, this is described as out in the open desert, which seems an unlikely place for a wedding. Then, finally, I don't know what 2mm dinar translate to, but what the hell were they doing with a satcom radio. I'm a bit of a tech gear hound, and I don't even know where to get a satcom radio.,
