The Kerry Spot on National Review Online

In response to those who say the electoral college marginalizes states that are not "swing states", you never know from election to election, or even month to month, which states will be "swing states".

This could be huge trouble for Kerry, if he has to start allocating his resources and attention to Illinois (I guess Barak Obama's coat-tails aren't as roomy as the Kerry campaign had hoped) and New Jersey, it could open the door for Bush to campaign largely unchallenged in other areas. Back in 2000, one of the reasons that Florida was even in play was that polls had shown Bush pull within 5 or 10 points of Gore in California. As a result, Gore had to make an unplanned stop out on the west coast, while Bush got to go spend more time with Florida voters. Give it a couple of weeks and things could open up a bit more. However, I think that the debates could change all of the electoral math.
